Jefferson had a blast with some silly pranks on April Fool's Day! In Grade 1, Miss Alvarez offered the students some handmade brownies, but they got Brown E's instead!
Kindergarten created their very own leprechaun traps to see if they could catch one, but it seems he made a mess of the classroom instead! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Jefferson students participated in a tissue box decorating contest, where students created a tissue box inspired by one of their favorite book characters. Congratulations to Leo Pitre, Samuel Navas, and Mathias Navas for winning the contest for their respective grade levels! Thank you students and families for your beautiful contributions!
For the month of March, Jefferson staff nominated students that exemplify Perseverance! Congratulations to James, Asahd, Lucas, Ruben, Dylan, Dannae, Camila, Alessandra, Peyton, Nilton, Selena, Joe, and Jace! You all show determination when facing obstacles, and we are lucky to have you in our school community!

To celebrate the conclusion of the 2025 Read-A-Thon, Jefferson slimed Mrs. Griggs and some teachers! Mrs. Griggs agreed to get slimed if we reached our fundraising goal of $10,000, and for every additional thousand dollars raised, a teacher was chosen to be slimed as well!
Thank you Mrs. Griggs, Ms. Alvarez, Ms. Rouski, Ms. Urban, and Ms. Bouchard for this great finale to a successful Read-A-Thon! We raised over $14,000! Congratulations to all the students who participated and won awards for their minutes read!
Jefferson had its second annual March Madness Knockout Tournament! Dressed in their best sports team outfit, randomly selected students from K-5 competed in knockout games during the beautiful March day! Even Jefferson staff competed! Thank you to all students that showed good sportsmanship!
Jefferson staff continued the Read-a-Thon celebration with a live performance of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle!
Students were invited to celebrate Read Across America Week with various activities to promote reading and Jefferson School's Read-A-Thon!
For Read Across America week, Dr. Yurchak visited Jefferson 3rd Graders to read "Thank You Letter!"
Jefferson students say "Congratulations" to Ms. Alvarez and Mrs. Marlin for being this year's Teacher of the Year and Educational Professional of the Year!
Dr. John Lee from Lyndhurst Family Dental visited Jefferson School and discussed the importance of dental hygiene!
To raise awareness for mental health and showing kindness, students wore purple for P.S. I Love You Day!

Jefferson staff competed in a Snack Showdown to excite students for the 2025 Read-a-Thon! Teachers competed in eating contests, a relay race, and book trivia! Here's to a great Read-a-Thon!
The Jefferson media center transformed into a Restaurant of Reading! Students were able to get a taste for different genres to include in their reading practice.
Students were invited to bring a toy or game to school as we celebrate Global School Play Day and encourage students to practice independent social and problem-solving skills!
Jefferson is so excited for this year's Read-a-Thon! We will be celebrating reading with the theme "A Taste for Reading," and we have a number of assemblies, prizes, and exciting events to share our love of reading in school, and at home!

At the NA Board of Education meeting on February 10th, the community celebrated our Jefferson Teacher of the Year, Miss Alvarez, and the Educational Professional of the Year, Jefferson's own Mrs. Marlin!

Did you know the NA Math Coach, Ms. Tuorto, trains therapy dogs? Jefferson students got a special visit from Lola, an incredible therapy dog who taught students all about how animals can do incredible things to help humans!
Today, Jefferson students had an assembly to talk about ways we can show kindness and caring. Additionally, the 4th and 5th grade choir sang some winter songs to their classmates!
For "Future Self" spirit day, students dressed up in their future career's uniform/style!

Kindergarten scientists learn about how rain occurs by conducting an experiment with water, shaving cream, and food coloring!
Before Jefferson closed for winter break, students got to celebrate with their teachers and classmates with fun and festive treats and gifts!
Students serenaded family and friends with lovely winter tunes at the Annual Winter Concert on December 10th! The students created beautiful music both vocally and with instruments!
Today, Jefferson students were invited to bring ANYTHING other than a backpack to bring their school supplies to school. Students got very creative with their backpack alternatives!
On October 17th, Jefferson students were awarded the "Respect" award after their teachers nominated them for showing respect in school. Congratulations to Carmella, Grayson, Kieran, Malik, Gabriela, Anthony, Adam, Matias, Alexa, Chase, Mia, Alessio, Aylin, Elias, and Evalyn!
At the November PTO meeting, students were given a Character Award for showing trustworthiness at school! Congrats to Alyssa, Alexander, Liviya, Dylan, Mia, Kevin, Maya, Rachele, Sebastian, Maya, Hudson, Ayra, Rhaenyra, Adrian, Charlotte, and Thiago! Thank you for being positive role models in and out of school!
Jefferson students honored the U.S. veterans by talking with Mr. Santos,a retired Marine and current Newark Fireman, in honor of Veterans Day.
The students of Jefferson celebrated Halloween by parading around our building and saying hello to friends and family. The students of Jefferson had a blast showing off their awesome costumes!

This week, Jefferson got to see an awesome assembly about hard work, perseverance, and motivation by a talented BMX stunt man! He even did a jump over Mrs. Vespoli and Mr. Chris!
The Jefferson PTO held this year's annual Trunk-or-Treat on Wednesday! The event was a huge success, with lots of fun (and candy!) for all!
To celebrate the Week of Respect, Jefferson students participated in a spirit week, representing all the ways we show respect every day.
